Our Story
Cavedon wines are cool climate, single-vineyard wines from a third generation vineyard in the King Valley. Gabe & Pia started making small batch wines to celebrate the hard work of Pia's father, Dino Cavedon, after they took over the vineyard in 2017. The wines are a pure expression of their vineyard, with a focus on experimenting with the otherwise traditional varieties and methods of the region.
WHY THE FACE ON THE BOTTLE?
OVER 40 YEARS OF GRAPE GROWING
Dino Cavedon has grown grapes in The King Valley for over 40 years. He and his parents (who migrated from Northern Italy) were one of the first families to take a chance on planting vines here back in '77, after first growing tobacco. Grape growing was only new here then & over the first few years, he'd helped pioneer some of the growing methods used in the King Valley, alongside the Department of Ag. Dino has dedicated his life to the craft & has taken a lot of pride in caretaking the vineyard with love & thoughtful grape growing.
A FAMILY AFFAIR
Cavedon Wines began when Dino started making plans to hang up his boots & offered us the opportunity to come on board. The farm was at a crossroads, it was either the end of the road or on the verge of something new. So in 2017, we left our careers & moved back to take on the farm, learning the art of good grape growing from the master himself.
CLOSING THE LOOP. FROM THE VINE TO WINE.
Our second year in, Gabe was keen to start exploring what the fruit could do & put it to the test. Our first experiment was with a Tempranillo Nouveau & Pinot Noir, followed by a bottle fermented Prosecco. After trying our first sips, we knew we were onto something good, and thus, we decided to launch Cavedon Wines a couple of years later in 2020.

Our wines are about honouring the old & embracing the new. They not only celebrate the lifelong work Dino has put into grape growing but also reflect a new generation of winemaking & creativity. We're making wines that champion the fruit we grow while experimenting with the traditional & the less traditional styles & varietals for our region.
